Gheorghe Cretu returns as head coach of Asseco Resovia

Asseco Resovia Rzeszów has officially appointed Romanian coach Gheorghe Cretu to lead the team. Cretu, 58, has signed a two-year contract, returning to the club where he previously worked during the 2018/2019 season.

Cretu replaces Massimo Botti following a season in which the team finished fourth in the PlusLiga. The club president, Piotr Maciąg, praised Cretu’s extensive experience at both the club and national team levels, noting his tactical preparation and ability to build teams.

Cretu’s career includes significant achievements with ZAKSA, including a Polish Championship, the Polish Cup, and a Champions League title. He has also coached national teams for Romania, Estonia, and Slovenia, and is scheduled to coach the Serbian national team starting in 2025.
