Gheorghe Pecingină appointed special administrator of STB

The General Assembly of Shareholders of Societatea de Transport București (STB S.A.) has appointed Gheorghe Pecingină as the special administrator for the company. This decision follows the official opening of insolvency proceedings by the Bucharest Tribunal on September 8, 2026, due to significant historical debts to suppliers and budgets.

Pecingină will be responsible for managing the company, representing STB S.A. in legal matters, and proposing a reorganization plan aimed at technical and financial recovery. The new management structure will involve Pecingină working alongside General Director Andrei Dinculescu-Bighea, under the supervision of a judicial administrator consortium consisting of Euro Insol SPRL, Turmac Insolvency SPRL, and Ceres Insolv SPRL.

The primary objectives of this restructuring are to implement cost-efficiency measures, evaluate ongoing contracts and spare parts stocks for buses, trolleybuses, and trams, and ensure the continued safe operation of daily public transport services in the capital.
