GHER hospital strike lifted following labor agreement

The strike at GHER has been lifted following the signing of an agreement between the Force Ouvrière (FO) union and hospital management. The labor action, which began on August 21, focused on several key demands, including the assignment of professionals with disabilities and improved working conditions related to understaffing and overtime management.

As part of the agreement, the CHU management has committed to increasing human resources for the hospital, specifically regarding the number of caregivers assigned to the Service Infirmier de Compensation et de Suppléance (SICS) to cover short-term absences. Additionally, workers secured the ability to recover overtime hours within a six-month period before receiving compensation.

Lionel Calenge, the Director General of GHER, announced that a plan to further improve working conditions will be unveiled in September. The union has stated it will remain vigilant and has scheduled a follow-up meeting for November 26 to monitor the implementation of these commitments.
