Gherla signs EcoCartier Charter for sustainable urban regeneration

The Cluj County Council and the Municipality of Gherla have signed the EcoCartier Charter, marking a new stage in the sustainable urban regeneration of the Cartierului Nou district. The agreement formalizes a commitment to continue a bilateral cooperation model between Romanian and French public administrations.

During a visit involving experts from the French agency Cerema and the French Ministry for Ecological Transition, officials recognized the progress made in transforming the district into a sustainable, inclusive, and resilient urban zone. The project aims to integrate territorial planning with improved quality of life, sustainable mobility, and environmental protection.

Key objectives include reducing disparities between the city center and the periphery and developing a new urban balance pole. Planned investments include the development of parks, pedestrian and cycling paths, improved transport connections, and enhancing the energy efficiency of existing buildings.
