Ghost in the Shell to return to North American theaters in 4K

Lionsgate has announced a 4K remastered theatrical re-release of the 1995 cyberpunk anime classic ‘Ghost in the Shell’ to celebrate its 30th anniversary. The film is scheduled to return to over 800 theaters across North America on September 18, 2026.

Directed by Mamoru Oshii and based on the manga by Masamune Shirow, the film follows Major Motoko Kusanagi and Section 9 as they track ‘The Puppet Master,’ a computer virus capable of infiltrating human hosts. The re-release includes a new official trailer and poster to promote the high-definition screening.
