Ghost in the Shell TV Anime Chooses King Gnu's 'GO GHOST' as Opening Theme

Japanese rock band King Gnu will perform the opening theme for the new TV anime Ghost in the Shell, titled “GO GHOST.” The song was revealed at the Anime Expo 2026 panel in Los Angeles and will debut with the series’ first episode on July 7, 2026, broadcast on Fuji TV’s nationwide network and streamed on Prime Video and other platforms.

The ending theme is provided by MILLENNIUM PARADE’s “Blue,” marking the first time that works led by the same artist (Taiki Tsunoda) appear as both opening and ending songs for a single series. The anime adapts Masamune Shirow’s cyber‑punk franchise, is set in 2029, and follows cyborg Major Motoko Kusanagi and Public Security Section 9.

Production is handled by Science SARU, and the series will air weekly on Tuesday nights in the “Fire Anime!!” slot. The announcement includes a fifth promotional video featuring the new opening track.
