Ghost in the Shell universe expands with new manga Glitch Witch

A new manga series titled ‘Glitch Witch’ has launched in Japan, expanding the ‘Ghost in the Shell’ universe. The series is set in the same world and timeline as the original 1989 manga, specifically beginning on April 10, 2029.

Written by Masamune Shirow and illustrated by Naoki Azuma, the story follows the period when Motoko Kusanagi and Daisuke Aramaki are preparing to establish Public Security Section 9. The plot involves a series of mysterious incidents in the United States, leading to a conflict between Project 2501 (the ‘Puppeteer’) and a Solomon-class AI.

The manga is being published on Kodansha’s YanMaga Web platform, with new chapters released every two weeks.
