Ghost raises $11 million for Core AI agent computer

The startup Ghost, led by 19-year-old CEO Zain Javaid, has raised $11 million in a seed funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz. The company is developing ‘Core’, a specialized computer designed to run autonomous personal AI agents locally.

Unlike traditional computers, Core is described as a ‘brain in a box’ that integrates data from applications, desktops, and smart devices to act on behalf of the user. The hardware, priced at $3,499, features an Nvidia RTX Pro 4000 SFF Blackwell GPU and is optimized to process information continuously without constant user commands.

A primary focus of the device is data sovereignty and privacy. Ghost aims to move AI agents away from cloud-based infrastructures owned by large corporations, instead processing all personal information and AI models locally with encryption and an internal firewall to prevent unauthorized network requests. Pre-orders are currently available, with shipments scheduled for late October.
