Ubisoft releases free 4K/60fps Ghost Recon Wildlands upgrade with new Last Rites mission

Ubisoft confirmed that the 2017 tactical shooter Ghost Recon Wildlands will receive a free next‑generation update released on 6 August 2026 to mark the series’ 25th anniversary. The patch adds native 4K resolution, 60 fps performance, 3D‑audio, faster SSD loading, DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers on PlayStation 5, as well as comparable enhancements on Xbox Series X|S.

The update also introduces a brand‑new narrative mission titled “Last Rites”, set in a darker version of Bolivia and featuring a new antagonist called La Llorona. Additional content includes new operator skins, cosmetic items, expanded gameplay‑customisation parameters and the return of the classic “Predator” mission. Existing owners of the PS4 or Xbox One version receive the upgrade at no cost, and the game will be free to play for all players from 6 to 10 August.

The details first surfaced in a brief PlayStation Store listing that was quickly removed, prompting speculation ahead of Ubisoft’s anniversary showcase. The company later confirmed the upgrade through official channels, confirming the technical and content improvements for the community.
