Ghosts cast discusses transition to film in The Possession of Button House
The cast and creators of the BBC sitcom Ghosts are discussing the transition of the franchise to the big screen with the release of the film, ‘Ghosts: The Possession of Button House’. Creators and stars, many of whom are part of the London-based group known as the ‘Horrible Histories Gang’, noted that moving to a film format allowed them to explore themes like possession, which would have been difficult within the constraints of a 30-minute sitcom episode.
During the development of the series, actors Laurence Rickard and Mathew Baynton shared that there were different initial ideas regarding character prominence, specifically whether the character Humphrey would be a primary ghost rather than Robin. Additionally, cast member Sian Clifford identified a continuity error in the film involving a prop bear that had been destroyed at the end of the television series but appeared in several filmed scenes.
