Gia Lai authorities demand accountability for forest loss

The People's Committee of Gia Lai province has ordered strict disciplinary action against heads of agencies and units following repeated incidents of forest loss in the Ia Mo and Ia Pia communes.

Following reports from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development regarding illegal logging, trade, and transportation of forest products, provincial leaders have directed authorities to conduct urgent investigations. The provincial government has tasked the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development with coordinating with relevant agencies to prosecute illegal activities and prevent the formation of forest destruction hotspots.

Additionally, the provincial police are instructed to work with forest rangers to investigate and handle illegal deforestation in Ia Pia and Ia Mo. Local authorities in the affected communes have been directed to strengthen forest management and protection efforts.
