Gia Lai breaks ground on construction waste recycling plant
The Long My - Quy Nhon construction waste recycling plant officially commenced construction on September 22 in Gia Lai province. This project, led by the Gia Lai Urban Works Joint Stock Company, is the first of its kind in the region designed to process construction debris into reusable resources.
Spanning over 70,410 square meters at the Long My solid waste treatment area, the facility represents an investment of more than 57.5 billion VND. It is designed with a daily capacity of 480 tons of waste. The plant will collect and process non-toxic waste, transforming it into aggregates, unburnt bricks, and leveling materials, while also recovering metals, plastics, and paper.
Local officials, including Vice Chairman Nguyen Tu Cong Hoang, noted that the project supports a circular economy and addresses the rising volume of waste caused by rapid urbanization. The facility aims to reduce illegal dumping and landfill reliance. The developer has committed to controlling environmental impacts such as dust and noise, with a goal to have the plant operational before February 2027.
