Gia Lai heritage land remains unrecovered four years after illegal lease
Nearly 8,000 square meters of land within a protected heritage and scenic area in Vinh Thanh commune, Gia Lai province, remains unrecovered four years after an inspection concluded illegal leasing occurred.
The land, located at the Vinh Thanh Uprising Monument on Lam Vien Hill, was leased to Ms. V. T. A. N. for an entertainment and sports center project. An inspection report from 2022 determined that the Vinh Thanh District People's Committee exceeded its authority by approving the lease and land use certificates without required provincial approval, violating the 2013 Land Law.
Despite the cancellation of permits, termination of contracts, and disconnection of utilities, the site continues to operate as a coffee business. Authorities previously ordered the recovery of the land and the revocation of related land use certificates, but the area has not yet been reclaimed.
