Gia Lai issues 2026-2030 reproductive health plan for youth

The Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee has issued a reproductive health and sexual health plan for adolescents and youth covering the 2026-2030 period. The initiative follows statistical trends showing an increase in teenage pregnancies, which rose from 2,664 cases in 2022 to 4,064 in 2025. In the first five months of 2026, the province recorded 1,826 cases.

The plan aims to improve reproductive and sexual health awareness, with a focus on ethnic minority areas and disadvantaged regions. By 2030, the province intends for 100% of communes and wards to implement specific plans and allocate appropriate funding. Additionally, the province targets 85% of adolescents and youth aged 15-24 to have comprehensive knowledge regarding the prevention of unintended pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases.

Educational integration is also a priority, with a goal of having 100% of secondary schools, high schools, and vocational education institutions incorporate gender and reproductive health education into their curricula and activities. Furthermore, 50% of ethnic minority boarding schools are expected to implement communication models focused on adolescent reproductive health care.
