Vietnam appoints two new Deputy Inspectors General
Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng has signed decisions to appoint two new Deputy Inspectors General for the Government Inspectorate.
Phạm Thành Ngại, formerly the Chairman of the Đồng Tháp Provincial People's Committee, and Nguyễn Thanh Tuấn, the Director of the Huế City Police, have been appointed to the roles. With these appointments, the Government Inspectorate will now have five Deputy Inspectors General, joining Nguyễn Văn Cường, Lê Sỹ Bảy, and Lê Tiến Đạt.
In a separate legal development, Tuyên Quang provincial police have detained Nguyễn Văn Năm, a former Vice Director of the Institute of Technology and Training Cooperation at Trưng Vương University. Năm is accused of abuse of power while performing official duties. The investigation revealed that between 2018 and 2022, his actions facilitated a scheme by Phạm Quốc Dương to defraud students of nearly 3 billion VND through fraudulent tuition and enrollment fees for a law program in Hà Giang province.
