Gia Lai police prosecute individual for online defamation of writer Gào

Gia Lai provincial police have initiated a criminal case for the crime of “humiliating others” following a complaint by writer Vu Phuong Thanh, also known as Gào.

Authorities have officially prosecuted Tran Cat Tuong, a 37-year-old resident of Tay Son commune, Gia Lai, and imposed a travel ban. According to the complaint, between 2018 and 2025, Thanh was subjected to continuous attacks, defamation, and insults on social media platforms including Facebook, Messenger, and Zalo.

Tuong is alleged to have been a key administrator and active member of several large anti-fan groups, such as “Anti-Gào Zone” and “UNITED AGZ.” Within these groups, Tuong reportedly posted content accusing Thanh of various illegal and immoral activities, including fraud, debt evasion, and involvement in prostitution, in an attempt to damage her reputation and family business. The investigation is ongoing.
