Gia Lai Province in Vietnam Launches Quantum Year 2026 to Advance Technology Commercialisation

Vietnam's Gia Lai province announced the launch of a "Quantum Year 2026", a series of events running from January to December 2026. The programme is coordinated with the National Innovation Center (NIC), the VNQuantum network, the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE) and other domestic and international partners.

The initiative is structured around four pillars: scientific conferences, technology development – highlighted by an international quantum‑computing hackathon called Quantathon – startup incubation, and education and training. Organisers aim to promote research, application and commercialisation of quantum technologies to address practical challenges in smart agriculture, logistics, resource management, environmental protection, climate adaptation, energy and data security.

The events will draw scientists, technologists, businesses, investors, startups, NGOs and universities from Vietnam, Southeast Asia and beyond, positioning Gia Lai as a hub for quantum innovation in the region and marking one of the first provincial‑level quantum programmes in the country.
