Gia Lai to develop sustainable circular sugarcane industry

The Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee has announced a plan to develop a sustainable sugarcane raw material region based on a circular economy model. The strategy focuses on large-scale, green production and establishing stable links between enterprises and farmers to ensure equitable benefits.

Agris Gia Lai Agriculture JSC and An Khe Sugar Factory have been identified as the core enterprises in the province's sugar industry. The provincial government has directed that development should prioritize increasing productivity, quality, and value per unit of area rather than simply expanding land use.

The province aims for 100% recycling of by-products and waste within the value chain. Specific directives for Agris Gia Lai include completing deep processing plans, prioritizing ethanol production from molasses, and developing biochar, organic fertilizers, and other biological products from sugarcane by-products. Additionally, Quang Ngai Sugar JSC has been requested to restructure its operations by establishing an independent legal entity headquartered in Gia Lai to manage local projects.
