Vietnam reports fatal Gia Lai bus crash and Hanoi bus safety crackdown

In Gia Lai, a major multi-vehicle accident occurred on the morning of September 23 at the intersection of National Highway 1 and National Highway 19B. A sleeper bus collided with a motorcycle and a parked taxi, causing the bus to overturn. The crash resulted in two fatalities—a motorcyclist and a female passenger—and left several others injured, including children. Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision.

Separately, in Hanoi, the Traffic Management and Operation Center has ordered bus operators to tighten safety protocols following two recent accidents involving public buses on September 21 and 22. The directive emphasizes strict adherence to traffic laws, prohibiting drivers from using mobile phones or operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol, and ensuring all vehicles meet technical safety standards.

In industrial news, Gia Lai authorities have announced a roadmap for the use of bio-gasoline (E10). This includes supporting the An Khe Ethanol Plant project, invested in by Quang Ngai Sugar Joint Stock Company. The plant, expected to be operational by early 2028, will utilize molasses from local sugar mills to produce fuel ethanol and food-grade alcohol.
