Vietnam expressways see multiple vehicle collisions

Multiple traffic accidents involving several vehicles have occurred on major Vietnamese expressways and local roads, primarily attributed to drivers failing to maintain safe following distances.

On the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway in Lam Dong province, a multi-vehicle collision involving seven cars occurred on August 29. While no casualties were reported, the accident caused significant traffic congestion during the period when citizens were traveling for the National Day holiday. Authorities had to redirect traffic to National Highway 1 to alleviate the buildup.

Similarly, on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway in Phu Tho province, a collision involving five vehicles took place on August 28. Preliminary investigations suggest the cause was a heavy vehicle failing to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead.

In a separate incident in Gia Lai province, a collision between a car and a motorcycle on Nguyen Thai Hoc Street resulted in the death of a young person and injuries to three others. Local police are currently investigating the circumstances of the crash.
