Già làng Tây Nguyên owners prosecuted for trademark infringement

Police in Quảng Ngãi province have prosecuted Đỗ Thành Tín and his wife, Dương Thị Phượng, for infringing industrial property rights related to the protected “Ngọc Linh” geographical indication. The couple, who operate the popular social media channel “Già làng Tây Nguyên,” is accused of selling ginseng-based products using the protected name without authorization.

Authorities discovered that the couple purchased ginseng without origin labels and applied their own “Ngọc Linh” labels to products such as ginseng wine and honey-soaked ginseng for display and sale. Tín, who has hundreds of thousands of followers on YouTube and Facebook, reportedly used his social media influence to promote and sell these products through video content.

Đỗ Thành Tín has been placed in temporary detention, while Dương Thị Phượng is subject to a travel ban. The investigation is ongoing to identify further legal violations.
