Giahsa nears 30,000 smart meter installations in Spain

Giahsa is nearing the installation of 30,000 smart meters within its water supply network, covering approximately 20% of the total meters managed in the Sierra and Andévalo regions. The digital transformation project represents an investment exceeding 2.3 million euros, funded through national and Andalusian PERTE programs.

The initiative utilizes Narrow Band IoT technology to enable remote, periodic consumption monitoring. This system is designed to improve operational efficiency and service quality by facilitating early leak detection, increasing reading accuracy, optimizing water resources, and providing near real-time data. This deployment aligns with a broader trend in Spain, where remote reading is already implemented in 38% of existing water meters.
