Giampaolo Ricci opens school for Tanzanian children through Amani Education

Italian basketball captain Giampaolo Ricci, a member of Olimpia Milano, has overseen the construction of a school in Tanzania. The project includes classrooms, dormitories, laboratories and sports facilities such as a basketball court, a volleyball court and a dirt football field. The school now welcomes dozens of boys and girls, and Ricci says it aims to improve the lives of the students, their families, teachers and staff, describing the effort as “a small drop that can become an ocean.”

The initiative is run by Amani Education, a charitable programme that has been part of the Associazioni Sportive e Sociali Italiane (ASI) network. Ricci discussed the project in an interview on ASI Play, highlighting the broader role of sport‑related social projects in supporting education across Africa.
