Giampiero Andreani dies at 17 in motorcycle accident

Giampiero Andreani, a 17-year-old athlete and lifeguard, died following a motorcycle accident in Ameglia, Italy, on the evening of Tuesday, August 25. The incident occurred on via Alta when Andreani’s motorcycle collided with a car traveling in the opposite direction.

Andreani was a rising talent in the hockey community, playing for Hockey Sarzana. He was a key member of the Under 19 team, a stable presence in the Serie A2 roster, and had been included in the Serie A1 squad. His athletic achievements included helping his team secure fourth place at the Under 23 National Finals and earning a spot on the preliminary list for the Italy Under 19 National Team ahead of the upcoming World Championships in Paraguay.

Emergency responders, including the Delta 2 medical team, the Red Cross, and the Drago helicopter service, attempted resuscitation efforts, but he could not be saved. Local police are currently investigating the exact dynamics of the collision.
