Giampiero Macarri to retire from Murri Hospital in Fermo

Professor Giampiero Macarri, the director of the Gastroenterology Unit at Murri Hospital in Fermo, will retire on November 1, 2026. His departure marks the end of a significant tenure for the regional healthcare system.

During his leadership, the Gastroenterology department established itself as a clinical and scientific reference point on both national and international scales. Key achievements include the implementation of advanced minimally invasive diagnostic and operative methods for complex digestive and biliary-pancreatic pathologies.

The department also became a specialized center for Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD), providing multidisciplinary care and access to modern biological therapies for conditions such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Macarri is recognized for combining high-level clinical care with a commitment to scientific research and the training of new medical professionals.
