FederlegnoArredo elects Elia Vismara as new president
Elia Vismara has been elected president of FederlegnoArredo for the 2026-2030 term, succeeding Claudio Feltrin. The announcement was made during the association's General Assembly held at the Triennale Milano.
Vismara emphasized the need to support the competitiveness of the Italian wood-furniture supply chain amidst geopolitical tensions, tariffs, and trade instability. He called for European action to combat unfair competition and ensure equitable access to markets and raw materials. He also highlighted the importance of investing in skills and training for new generations.
Data from the FederlegnoArredo Study Center indicates a challenging period for the sector. In the first seven months of 2026, exports fell by 3.9% compared to the previous year. Significant declines were noted in key markets, including France (-4.4%), Germany (-7.4%), and the United States (-9.4%), representing a combined export loss of over 288 million euros compared to 2025.
