Giancarlo Esposito expresses interest in playing Magneto or Mr. Freeze

Actor Giancarlo Esposito has addressed long-standing fan casting rumors, clarifying that while he was frequently linked to the role of Professor Charles Xavier, his true interests lie with more complex antagonists. In an interview with Polygon, the ‘Breaking Bad’ star expressed a desire to portray Magneto within the X-Men universe, noting his fascination with the rhythm and atmosphere of that world.

Beyond the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Esposito also identified Mr. Freeze from DC Comics as a character he would like to play. He noted that his interest in such roles stems from a preference for characters with layered motivations and imposing presences.

Esposito recently made his MCU debut as Seth Voelker (Sidewinder) in ‘Captain America: Brave New World’. He expressed some dissatisfaction regarding the script for that role, noting that certain intellectual origins of the character were omitted in the final version.
