Giancarlo Petri and Emanuela Taschini Dead after Crash on Italy’s Provincial 78
On the night of Saturday, 18 July, a Yamaha motorbike carrying Giancarlo Petri, 50, of Serravalle di Chienti, and Emanuela Taschini, 49, of Visso, collided with a Dacia Dokker van on Provincial Road 78 near Urbisaglia and Colmurano in the province of Macerata, Marche region. The 68‑year‑old driver of the van, a resident of Urbisaglia, was unharmed.
The impact was violent; both occupants of the motorcycle were thrown several metres. Emergency crews, including a helicopter, attempted resuscitation but one victim died instantly and the other shortly thereafter. The bodies were taken to the Macerata morgue under police custody. Autopsy and investigative work are ongoing, with authorities noting no brake marks on the road. Both vehicles have been seized. Local officials, including the mayor of Serravalle di Chienti, expressed condolences to the families, who include four children of Petri and one child of Taschini.
