Giancarlo Stanton begins base running during Yankees rehab
New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton has begun running bases at Yankee Stadium as part of his rehabilitation from right calf strains. The 36-year-old has been sidelined since late April, marking nearly four months away from active play.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone noted that Stanton is “doing well” and appears to be getting closer to a return. While Stanton has previously skipped minor league rehab assignments, Boone indicated there is a possibility of one before the veteran returns to the lineup. Stanton has appeared in only 24 games this season due to his ongoing injury struggles.
The Yankees are currently managing multiple injuries to key offensive players. In addition to Stanton, Cody Bellinger is on the injured list with a left hamstring strain, and Aaron Judge remains out due to a stress fracture in his right rib. Judge has recently been cleared for light activities such as outdoor running, while Bellinger has been performing agility and defensive work.
