Gianfranco Fini criticizes Roberto Vannacci’s political path

Former Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Gianfranco Fini has criticized the political trajectory of Roberto Vannacci during an appearance on the La7 program ‘L’aria che tira’.

Fini distinguished between Vannacci’s military career and his political endeavors. He praised Vannacci as an ‘excellent commander’ of elite units like the Folgore and praised his courage in reporting the uranium bomb scandal in Kosovo. However, Fini expressed skepticism regarding his political performance, stating that, in his view, Vannacci ‘has not yet gotten a single thing right’ politically.

Fini argued that Vannacci’s political stance, which claims to represent the ‘true right’, may actually benefit the left through the ‘useful vote’ mechanism. He suggested that voters might ultimately find themselves supporting left-wing or even pro-Putin positions if they follow Vannacci’s current path. Fini also noted that Vannacci’s departure from the Lega was predicated on the party allegedly betraying its program.
