Italy urban updates: Bologna police operations and roadworks

Various Italian cities are managing significant urban changes involving law enforcement, infrastructure, and mobility.

In Bologna, police forces including the Polizia di Stato, Carabinieri, and Guardia di Finanza conducted high-impact operations to combat drug dealing and crime in areas such as the railway station and San Donato district. These checks identified 171 individuals, resulting in several legal actions and the identification of suspects involved in robberies.

Simultaneously, Bologna is undergoing extensive roadwork. While some streets like via Santo Stefano are reopening, new construction is scheduled for via Enrico Mattei and other local arteries, affecting traffic flow through late September.

In other regions, Macerata is implementing traffic restrictions in via Piave due to ongoing works, and urban planning in Rome is addressing new pedestrian zones. In Rome, officials are debating regulations for electric scooters on the upcoming pedestrianized via Roma to ensure safety alongside cyclists and pedestrians.
