Gianluca Saro set for permanent move from Cremonese to Foggia
Italian Serie B side Cremonese is close to finalising a permanent transfer of goalkeeper Gianluca Saro (born 2000) to Serie C club Foggia. The Foggia offer prevailed over interest from Salernitana, and the deal is expected to be completed imminently. Saro had not been called to Cremonese’s summer training camp, reflecting the club’s intention to move him on before his contract expires in 2027. Heavy competition for the goalkeeper position at Cremonese – with Andrea Fulignati, Stefano Agazzi, Marco Festa and young prospect Cassin – also prompted the decision.
Saro’s recent career includes a loan spell at Reggiana without Serie B appearances, a stint at Cittadella where he made 13 league appearances, and 13 matches for Cremonese (12 in Serie B and one in the Coppa Italia) since joining in 2022. The transfer will give Foggia a young, experienced keeper as they prepare for the upcoming season.
