Gianluca Zambrotta undergoes second surgery for varus deformity

Former Italian national team and Juventus player Gianluca Zambrotta has undergone a second surgical procedure to correct varus deformity, a condition affecting the alignment of his lower limbs. The condition, which causes the knees to turn outward and creates an arched leg shape, has caused him significant mobility issues for several years.

Following a previous operation on his left leg in November, this recent procedure targeted his right leg. The complex surgery involved a double-level valgus osteotomy on the tibia and femur using custom 3D-made components, supplemented by an autologous stem cell transplant.

Zambrotta shared updates on social media, expressing gratitude to Professor Zaffagnini and the medical staff at the Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli. While he noted that the recovery process will be long and complex, he expressed optimism about returning to a normal walking posture in the coming weeks.
