Gianluigi Buffon reflects on Juventus career and returns to school
Former Italian national team and Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has shared reflections on his career and personal growth. In a recent interview, Buffon discussed his decision to leave the national team following Italy’s elimination against Bosnia, stating he wanted to take responsibility rather than remain in the setup.
He also addressed difficult periods during his time at Juventus, specifically around 2010-2011 following a back injury. Buffon admitted to withdrawing from the club's environment for several months during his recovery, noting that he felt like a burden and struggled to feel connected to the project at that time.
In a separate personal development move, the 48-year-old has decided to return to school to earn his high school diploma. Buffon aims to challenge the stereotype of the uneducated athlete and set an example for his children. He expressed regret over a past mistake from 1996, when he used a false diploma to enroll in university, and intends to complete his studies properly through the Istituto Marconi.
