Gianluigi Donnarumma marries Alessia Elefante in Puglia

Gianluigi Donnarumma, captain of the Italian national football team and Manchester City goalkeeper, married long‑time partner Alessia Elefante on 24 July 2026. The ceremony took place in the Church of San Giorgio Martire in the historic town of Locorotondo, Puglia, followed by a reception at the Masseria Pettolecchia in Fasano.

The couple, together for a decade and parents of a two‑year‑old son, were joined by a host of football celebrities, including teammate Erling Haaland, who led a “Viking Row” drum performance, as well as Roberto Mancini, Paolo Maldini, Pep Guardiola, Nicolo Barella and other notable figures from the sport and entertainment worlds. Local authorities deployed traffic‑management measures to accommodate the influx of guests and curious onlookers.

During a live broadcast from the venue, Rai sport reporter Donatella Cupertino mistakenly referred to the wedding as a funeral, a slip that quickly went viral on social media. The gaffe added a further layer of media attention to an already high‑profile event that blended sport, celebrity culture and regional tradition.
