Gianni Alemanno criticizes center-right leadership in Sicily
Gianni Alemanno, leader of Futuro Nazionale and former mayor of Rome, has expressed criticism regarding the current state of the center-right coalition in Italy. Speaking in an interview, Alemanno noted a widespread sense of discontent in Sicily, suggesting that the center-right has failed to deliver real change from the national government down to the local level.
Alemanno criticized Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, stating that while her communication is effective, substantial changes are lacking. He characterized her recent political stances as being essentially centrist, which he claims has forced a closure at the local level.
Regarding political strategy, Alemanno stated that Futuro Nazionale aims to surpass electoral thresholds in Sicily to ensure representation in the Regional Assembly (ARS). He indicated a willingness to discuss alliances at the local level where national issues are less impactful, but emphasized that the responsibility to initiate dialogue lies with Meloni.
