Gianni Infantino attends CFU meeting despite CONCACAF objections

FIFA President Gianni Infantino reportedly caused friction with CONCACAF President Victor Montagliani by attending a Caribbean Football Union (CFU) meeting in Punta Cana despite formal requests to stay away.

Montagliani had written to Infantino asking him to reconsider his attendance to avoid overshadowing a regional Under-14 tournament. The CONCACAF president expressed concerns that Infantino’s presence would shift media focus away from youth development and toward ongoing governance disputes regarding the FIFA Forward Enterprise proposal.

During the meeting, Infantino allegedly announced several million dollars in FIFA-funded development projects, some of which had faced previous delays. The incident occurs amid broader tensions within football leadership, with some officials questioning FIFA's governance and the transparency of its leadership.
