Gianni Infantino accused of receiving undisclosed $1.76M in payments

FIFA President Gianni Infantino is facing allegations of financial misconduct following an investigation by The Times. Reports indicate that Infantino received approximately $1.76 million in undisclosed payments during 2024 from FWC2026 US Inc., the entity responsible for organizing the 2026 World Cup in the United States. These funds were reportedly not included in FIFA’s official 2024 annual financial report, which listed his remuneration at 4.274 million Swiss francs.

Critics, including former FIFA governance committee chairman Miguel Maduro, have characterized the failure to disclose these payments as a “clear violation of FIFA’s statutes,” which mandate full transparency regarding the compensation of top officials. Some reports suggest the undisclosed funds may have been used to cover luxury living expenses in Miami, including the rental of a beachfront mansion in the Sunset Islands area.

FIFA has strongly denied the allegations, stating that the president receives no second salary and that all financial disclosures comply with relevant regulations in Switzerland and the United States. The organization maintains that all contractual benefits are determined by an independent remuneration subcommittee and that its accounts undergo independent audits.
