Gianni Infantino praises Bosnia and Herzegovina's World Cup success
FIFA President Gianni Infantino recently highlighted the historical achievements of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team. In a social media post, Infantino praised the team for reaching the knockout stage of the World Cup for the first time in their history, noting that the players demonstrated great competitive spirit and created lasting memories for their nation.
During their World Cup campaign, Bosnia and Herzegovina competed in a group featuring Switzerland, Canada, and Qatar. Their run concluded in the round of 16 following a 2-0 defeat against the United States in San Francisco. Infantino also extended congratulations to the Football Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for their performance.
In addition to his professional activities, Infantino's personal life has drawn attention. He has been married to Lena Al Ashkar, who is of Lebanese origin, for over 25 years. The couple has four daughters. Infantino, who was born in Switzerland and previously held Swiss and Italian citizenship, obtained Lebanese citizenship in February 2026 following meetings with Lebanese officials.
