Giannis Antetokounmpo discusses Magic Johnson comparisons and NBA legacy

Giannis Antetokounmpo has addressed comparisons to NBA legend Magic Johnson following his preseason performance with the Miami Heat. Heat coaching staff, including Erik Spoelstra and Pat Riley, noted that Antetokounmpo’s size, vision, and ability to facilitate for shooters during a game against Toronto reminded them of the Hall of Fame playmaker.

Antetokounmpo expressed humility regarding the comparison, stating, “It is a very beautiful compliment. But I think I am still very far from Magic Johnson, who is one of the best point guards in history, if not the best.”

Speaking at a basketball camp in South Florida, the 31-year-old also shared his perspective on his historical standing in the league. While acknowledging he was not a highly touted prospect early in his career, Antetokounmpo stated he considers himself among the top 20 players of all time and expressed his ambition to break into the top 10.
