Giannis Antetokounmpo joins Miami Heat in blockbuster trade
Giannis Antetokounmpo has completed a high-profile move from the Milwaukee Bucks to the Miami Heat. The trade, executed in July following a period of deliberation, saw Miami acquire Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis. In exchange, Milwaukee received Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, the No. 13 pick in the 2026 draft, unprotected first-round picks in 2031 and 2033, a 2030 pick swap, and a 2033 second-rounder.
Reports indicate Milwaukee prioritized long-term flexibility and controlled contracts over immediate championship contention. Following the trade, Miami’s championship odds for the 2026-27 season improved significantly, moving from 30-1 to 18-1.
In conjunction with his move to South Florida, a company linked to Antetokounmpo purchased a $13.5 million mansion in Pinecrest. The nearly 12,000-square-foot estate features eight bedrooms and ten bathrooms, marking a substantial discount from its original $16.3 million asking price.
