Giannis Antetokounmpo confirms availability for Greece’s next FIBA window

Giannis Antetokounmpo told listeners on the Anestea podcast that he is prepared to join the Greek national basketball team if the federation calls him for the upcoming FIBA window, which features games against Ukraine and Spain. He explained that NBA players must have a special insurance policy for international matches, a cost that the respective national federations cover, and that this requirement contributed to his absence from the previous window against Romania and Portugal.

Antetokounmpo noted he has participated in 10 of the 12 tournaments for which he has been selected and emphasized his desire to help Greece secure a spot at the 2027 World Cup. He added, “If I’m called, I’ll be there,” and expressed confidence that the team can win the upcoming matches.

The remarks come as Greece sits with a mixed record in the second round of qualifiers, needing victories over Ukraine and Spain to keep its World Cup hopes alive.
