Nikola Jokić tops ESPN's annual NBA player rankings

ESPN has released its annual NBA player rankings ahead of the upcoming season, placing Nikola Jokić at the top of the list. The rankings reflect projected contributions for the 2026/27 season, with a narrow margin separating the top three players: Jokić, Victor Wembanyama, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is ranked fifth. The 31-year-old forward, who recently moved from the Milwaukee Bucks to the Miami Heat, is noted for his ability to maintain MVP-level statistics despite missing much of the previous season due to injuries. Analysts highlight that if he remains healthy, he remains one of the few players capable of averaging 30 points and 10 rebounds while leading his team in assists.

The top 10 list includes Luka Dončić (4th), Jalen Brunson (6th), Anthony Edwards (7th), Cade Cunningham (8th), Jayson Tatum (9th), and Donovan Mitchell (10th). The rankings have sparked debate among analysts, particularly regarding the placement of players like Jayson Tatum and the comparison between the veteran dominance of Jokić and the rising potential of Wembanyama.
