Giannis Bezos discusses career and artistic responsibility

Greek actor Giannis Bezos shared insights into his professional journey and philosophy during an interview on the show ‘Chamoela kai Pali’. Bezos stated that he does not view his work as something ‘tremendously important,’ but rather as an effort to perform his job to the best of his ability.

He addressed the social responsibility of performers, noting that their work serves to comfort, make people forget, or move them. Bezos emphasized that this responsibility is particularly significant in theater, suggesting that because their work is public, it carries a political dimension regarding what is communicated to the audience.

Regarding his career, the actor remarked that he has never felt professionally wronged or victimized by industry circles. He also discussed his upcoming role in William Shakespeare’s ‘The Merchant of Venice’ at the Alkyonis Theater, where he will direct and star as Shylock, describing the character as a complex individual driven by extreme behaviors and a preoccupation with money.
