Giannis Ioannidis, a legendary figure in Greek basketball, passed away at the age of 78. Known as the “blonde” architect of the Aris BC empire, Ioannidis left an indelible mark on the sport through his roles as both a player and a coach.
As a player in the 1960s, he was part of the celebrated “silver” Aris team and represented the Greek national team, making his debut in 1965. He notably competed in the European Cup Winners' Cup against Maccabi Tel Aviv. After retiring from active play in 1978, he transitioned into coaching, where his intense passion for victory and psychological approach to the game became defining characteristics.
