Giannis Maniatis re-elected as Vice-President of the S&D Group

Giannis Maniatis, a PASOK Member of the European Parliament, has renewed his term as Vice-President of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D) in the European Parliament. His re-election is expected to strengthen the Greek presence in European discussions regarding foreign policy, security, defense, and international energy cooperation.

During his previous term, Maniatis served as the S&D rapporteur for the European Defence Industry Programme (EDIP) and worked on reports concerning European drone development. He also managed the budget for new European energy infrastructure under the Connecting Europe Facility. Additionally, he led a Task Force for the Middle East, facilitating dialogue with progressive political forces, academics, and civil society representatives from Palestine, Israel, Iran, and Lebanon.
