Giannis Michelogiannakis rejoins PASOK

Giannis Michelogiannakis, the former Member of Parliament for Heraklion, has announced his return to PASOK – Movement for Change. In his statement, he expressed that he is returning to his “political and ideological roots” and joining forces with the party under the leadership of Nikos Androulakis.

Michelogiannakis stated that he is responding to the call for a “large, majority progressive faction” and emphasized that only PASOK and Androulakis can guarantee a reliable and dynamic governmental alternative to the ruling New Democracy party. He highlighted his commitment to representing Crete and bringing a message of victory from the region.

His political history includes serving as a PASOK MP, later being elected with DIMAR, and subsequently serving with SYRIZA. He most recently joined the party led by Stefanos Kasselakis before departing in December 2025. Michelogiannakis also criticized current government policies regarding infrastructure, the National Health System, and the cost of living, calling for a comprehensive development plan for Crete that supports agriculture, livestock, and small businesses.
