Giannis Parios responds to social media criticism after Cyprus concert

Greek singer Giannis Parios has responded to social media criticism following his recent concert at the Larnaca Municipal Amphitheatre in Cyprus on August 28. After clips of his performance went viral on platforms like TikTok, some users criticized his vocal performance and suggested that his age should prompt his retirement from live performances.

Parios dismissed the comments, stating that he is not affected by anonymous online criticism. He remarked, “An artist is not a public servant to receive a pension,” emphasizing that his primary motivation is the love of his audience rather than professional retirement age. He also criticized those who post negative comments without using their real names.

Several colleagues and public figures have voiced support for the singer. Presenter Roula Koromila defended his monumental career, calling him a “myth” that remains untouched by “toxic keyboards.” Musician Stelios Rokkos described Parios as being in his “most beautiful moment,” while long-time collaborator Kyriakos Tsolakis also defended him against disparaging remarks regarding his age.
