Giannis Sarris undergoes surgery following ACL injury
PAOK FC midfielder Giannis Sarris has successfully undergone scheduled surgery following an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture. The injury occurred during the club's summer preparations during a friendly match against Westerlo, where the 19-year-old player had to be carried off the pitch in the 10th minute.
PAOK released a message of support for the player, stating: "Giannis Sarris has undergone the scheduled surgery after the ACL rupture he sustained during preparations. From here on, the road to recovery begins. Giannis, we wish you strength and a quick return to the fields. We are waiting for you!"
The injury adds to the club's midfield challenges following the injury to Soualié Doumbia/Maïté. Consequently, the club management is reportedly considering potential reinforcement options, including the possibility of bringing back former player Haris Tsigaras.
