Giannis Skokas, President of Larissa Labor Center Arrested by Police

Greek police detained Giannis Skokas, the president of the Labor Center of Larissa and a member of the PAME secretariat, while he and union members were posting flyers for a national‑federal rally to be held at the Thessaloniki International Fair on 5 September. The arrest was carried out by the Larissa Police Directorate using a self‑immolation procedure.

The Labor Center of Lefkada‑Bonitsa condemned the arrest as an "unacceptable and unprovoked" act of state repression, describing it as part of a broader effort to intimidate workers and unions. The organization called for Skokas' immediate release, the termination of any criminal proceedings against him, and urged unions across the region to show solidarity.
